Proposal of Hazard Connectivity Index for debris flow disaster management

چکیده
The concept of connectivity and its index have been widely discussed applied to environmental studies such as ecology, hydrology, geomorphology hydrosedimentology. Supposing that this is very useful also in disaster risk management, we define the hazard associated debris flows degree between flow occurrence (trajectory) point interest (location house, person, so on). Based on definition, Hazard Connectivity Index (HCI) proposed as: HCI = L/(x+L), where x shortest distance trajectory interest; L runout or just mass movement. value varies from 0 1, being higher indicates larger condition. application one case study showed it can be analysis related hazard.

Assessing Debris Flow Hazard by Credal Nets
Debris flows are among the most dangerous and destructive natural hazards that affect human life, buildings, and infrastructures. Starting from the ’70s, significant scientific and engineering advances in the understanding of the processes have been achieved [4, 7]. Yet, human expertise is still fundamental for hazard identification, as many aspects of the whole process are poorly understood; a...
متن کاملRisk, Hazard, and Disaster
Natural hazard research began as a study of cultural perceptions to extreme naturally occurring events. Since the advent of the study, natural hazard literature has become steeped in terminology that is sometimes confusing to the reader. The concepts of hazard, risk, and disaster are often confused with one another and with the extreme event itself. Although the extreme event is inherent in haz...
متن کاملDisaster = Infrastructure + Hazard
We describe a framework for relating available data on hazards to impact on infrastructure. It is designed to be used by simulation platforms that may focus on a single infrastructure layer or aim to study interactions between interdependent layers. The Hazard Impact Framework (HIF) provides a flexible scheme for capturing and maintaining data on the response of elements of critical infrastruct...
متن کاملComprehensive Disaster Risk Management Standards for Hospitals
Background and Objective: Hospitals play an important role in protecting the health and survival of people during disasters. Despite the development of risk management programs worldwide in recent years, hospital preparedness in disasters is low and one reason for that is the lack of hospital standards for disaster preparedness. This study aims to develop hospital accreditation standards for ho...
متن کاملCrowd Sourcing Challenges Assessment Index for Disaster Management
Emergency agencies (EA) rely on inter-agency approaches to information management during disasters. EA have shown a significant interest in the use of cloud-based social media such as Twitter and Facebook for crowd-sourcing and distribution of disaster information. While the intentions are clear, the question of what are its major challenges are not. EA have a need to recognise the challenges i...
